Our Story
From a Small Garden Shed to a Professional Woodworking Shop
Like many great American businesses, ours started small and grew through hard work, customer demand, and a passion for quality craftsmanship.
It all began when I built a custom wooden baby/pet gate for my own home. It was a simple barn door design built out of oak pallet lumber. When we sold our first home and moved, we took the gate with us as my wife, Stephanie, really liked it. Unfortunately, it would not fit in our new home, so she posted in online to a Colorado Springs Facebook group— and to our surprise, it sold almost immediately. Then the messages started pouring in: "Can you make one for me?" "Do you take custom orders?" "How soon can you build this?"
What started as a one-off project quickly turned into real demand. I set up a modest workspace in our small backyard 10’ x 12’ garden shed, gathering tools, lumber, and determination to turn those requests into reality.
As orders kept coming, the shed became too tight. We expanded into our garage, transforming it into a proper (but still home-based) woodworking shop. More space meant better tools, faster production, and the ability to take on bigger custom projects while still pouring heart into every gate.
The business continued to grow — thanks to word-of-mouth, happy families, and pet parents who loved our handcrafted, durable, beautiful gates. Eventually, we outgrew the garage too.
Today, we're proud to operate out of our professional 1,200 sq ft woodworking shop on 3.5 acres of peaceful land in Peyton, Colorado. This dedicated space allows us to source premium hardwoods, expand our tools and machines (to include a new CAMaster CNC machine), and to continue building custom gates with even greater precision, efficiency, and attention to detail — all while keeping that same personal, veteran-owned care we had from day one.
